Since landing in the U.S. Mia collaborated with Dave Stewart (Eurythmics) to produce You and Me, a 4-song EP just released in late March 2011. Powerful and delicate, harsh and sweet; You and Me showcases the many sides of Mia and her songwriting. From the title track; a loud and proud, lung emptying, brass tacks love song, to the bluesy and muscular “I Meant Something To You Once”, You and Me is a genuine and relatable collection of Mia’s best songs to date.
During her first year in the U.S. Mia toured from Boston to Los Angeles including support for Stevie Nicks and a tour with rockabilly extraordinaire Chris Issak.
Mia's reputation for outstanding performances and brilliant musicianship garnered her Australian national tours opening for iconic artists including, Eric Clapton, Bonnie Raitt, Joe Cocker and has been featured at many major music events including Montreaux Jazz festival, Byron Bay Blues and Roots Festivals (Aus) Winnipeg Folk Festival (Canada) and WOMAD, Falcon Ridge Folk Festival, Salmon Arm Blues and Roots Festival, Vancouver Island Folk Festival, Central Park NY Summer Stage with Ani DiFranco and many more.
She’s a guitarist, songwriter and singer, but it’s her voice - more guttural than just gravely, more touched than merely smoky - that is the showstopper. Skinny young white girls aren’t supposed to sound this big and soulful. — Sydney Morning Herald (Australian Daily)
… a stark, soulful wonder, driven by her husky temptress of a voice and her very spare, very bluesy guitar picking and strumming. (Four Stars)
— Jeff Apter, Rolling Stone
I always get a kick out of seeing her walk out onstage with just a guitar and her voice and tear down the house… I guess most of us have heard the talk about her rubbing her guitar strings with a mixture of tears and rattlesnake juice, but I say put aside these foolish rumors and listen for yourself.
